The Filmaholic's Privacy Policy

TL;DR

Privacy is important. Your personally identifiable information, including your email address, will never be willingly given or sold to third-parties. Your email is needed to get the best from the site, but you shouldn't receive any emails from the site except for when requesting a password reset link. Optional information can also be saved to your account, but is only used for anonymous aggregation to provide interesting stats. Similarly, some information is used for website analytics.

If you choose to subscribe to the A-List, information will be taken from you via a secure form in order to process payment. I will never use this information except when required for account management. No third party will have access to this information, apart from Stripe, the payment processor. The Filmaholic provides an entertaining service for film buffs to track their watches and get back some interesting information.

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the “Personal Data” that we collect about you, how we use it, how we share it, your rights and choices, and how you can contact us about our privacy practices. This Policy also outlines your data subject rights, including the right to object to some uses of your Personal Data by us.

Although The Filmaholic is run by a single person, it may be refered to as “The Filmaholic”, "I", “we”, “our” or “us”. All of these mean me, as an individual, and the the sole proprietor of the website.

“Personal Data” means any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual, and can include information about how you engage with our Services (e.g. device information, IP address).

Information Gathering

Upon registration, The Filmaholic asks for your email address, which is the only field which is required information along with a password, as it is necessary in case your password is lost. You can add other personal information which helps me in building interesting statistics, but is not required. Lack of that information may exclude you from some statistics, but it is a personal choice as to whether you provide that information, and how much you provide.

We also make use of traffic analytics software which collects site usage data, such as which pages you visit and how often you load the site.

Information Sharing

I will not share your email address, user name, ip address or other information that could be used to identify you, with any third party. We will not make your email address visible to other users.

Advertising

At this moment in time, I'm hoping to avoid advertisements, even for free users, as they're annoying and rely on third parties. The Filmaholic has the right to change this at any time and will update the Policy accordingly.
